What Actually Is Acne And How Does It Happen?
Over the last few years, much scientific research has been done to investigate the causes of acne - especially in teenagers and young adults. We are now able to report on the exact reasons and mechanisms behind the existence of both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne. In this article, we will take a look at some of the most common causes.
It is now a well-known fact that a pimple begins to develop long before you are actually able to see it. In some cases, the development stage begins three weeks before any physical signs begin to surface. This has huge implications for skin care products, because it means that when you start a new skin-care regime, it could take up to 3 weeks for any results to be noticed.
Formation & Development of Acne.
As we just pointed out, the formation of a pimple begins 2 to 3 weeks before you actually see the results of it. Deep inside each pore, sebaceous glands work to encourage fluid flow and healthy transportation of waste material away from the skin. At times, this function can be disrupted - and the result can be an accumulation of oil, waste, or other bodily materials in that particular pore.
From here, the process begins. The body will then continue on with its normal transportation system as if nothing was wrong - which means the following things:
- Waste / oil / fluids continue to accumulate in the pores.
- Bacteria may start to reproduce in this area.
- The body realizes there is an infection in the area.
- The body works to get rid of the clogged pore and infection.
- The area becomes inflamed and swollen.
As you can see, the result of the natural body processing is acne. In reality, a pimple is simply an indication that your immune system has recognised an invasion, and worked to prevent it from spreading in the face.
Keeping Your Face Acne-Free.
Perhaps your mother was right when she told you to wash your face every morning and night. The fact of the matter is that if you can prevent bacteria from getting into these spots where fluid or waste materials have accumulated, you can actually prevent or diminish the resulting reaction or action that the body takes.
Hence, the degree of acne that you have is solely dependent upon your skin-care regime.
